YapAlert Privacy Policy

Last Updated: April 3, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Space Sweater, LLC ("Space Sweater," "we," "us," or "our") handles information in connection with YapAlert (the "App" or "Service"). It applies to YapAlert and related services we make available from time to time, including optional subscription features, transcripts, AI-powered features, websites, support channels, and other related offerings.

If you do not want us to handle information as described in this Privacy Policy, please do not use the Service.

1. Scope

YapAlert is a general-audience app designed to help users understand speaking patterns, pace, and meeting behavior. YapAlert is not directed to children under 13.

This Privacy Policy covers information we process:

  • when you use YapAlert on your device;
  • when data is stored locally on your device or synced through your iCloud account;
  • when you contact us for support;
  • when you use optional paid, AI, transcript, or cloud-powered features we may offer; and
  • when we use analytics, diagnostics, subscription, attribution, or marketing tools in connection with the Service.

2. Information We Process

The information we process depends on the features you use and the tools we enable.

2.1 Information you provide or create

We may process information such as:

  • profile names and coaching settings you enter;
  • meeting names and related notes or labels you create;
  • optional email address or contact details you choose to provide;
  • support or feedback messages you send us;
  • information related to subscription purchases, renewals, cancellations, or restores; and
  • content you choose to create, save, export, share, or submit through optional features, including transcripts, AI Practice Mode conversations, prompts, or other generated outputs.

2.2 Voice, audio, and speaking-analysis data

YapAlert is built around voice and speaking analysis. Depending on the feature you use, we may process:

  • voice enrollment samples you record to create a voiceprint;
  • a derived voiceprint or similar voice-derived identifier used to recognize when you are speaking;
  • meeting audio processed to estimate talk share, pace, monologue behavior, and related speaking metrics;
  • temporary local audio files created to support recording, processing, recovery, sharing, troubleshooting, or optional transcript or AI features; and
  • transcript text, AI session content, or derived speaking insights if you enable or use those features.

Much of this processing is designed to happen on device and through Apple services. Some features may send audio or text off device only to provide the feature you requested, such as speech recognition, cloud transcription, or AI Practice Mode. We may also use separate analytics, diagnostics, subscription, and attribution tools that process technical, usage, purchase, or campaign-related information.

2.3 Device, technical, and usage information

We may process technical and usage information such as:

  • app-specific identifiers, account identifiers, and device identifiers;
  • app version, operating system, device model, language, and similar technical details;
  • in-app actions, feature usage, session timing, and lifecycle events;
  • error logs, crash data, diagnostics, and performance information;
  • notification permissions and settings; and
  • subscription status, entitlement status, and related purchase metadata.

If you contact support from inside the app, your message may include diagnostic context such as app version, operating system, device model, and your YapAlert user ID.

2.4 Advertising and attribution data

We do not serve third-party ads inside YapAlert. However, we may promote YapAlert through advertising and marketing campaigns and use attribution or measurement partners to understand campaign performance.

Depending on the tools we use, those partners may receive or process data such as:

  • device identifiers;
  • IP address;
  • app install or app open events;
  • campaign, referral, or attribution data; and
  • limited in-app event data used to measure installs, conversions, subscriptions, retention, or campaign effectiveness.

If we engage in tracking that requires permission under Apple's AppTrackingTransparency framework or similar law, we will request permission where required.

2.5 Apple services and iCloud

YapAlert relies heavily on Apple services. Depending on your device and settings:

  • app data may be stored locally on your device;
  • app data may sync through your iCloud account by default on supported Apple devices;
  • Apple speech recognition services may process audio snippets used for pace estimation or related features; and
  • Apple may process certain information under its own privacy terms when you use Apple services, including iCloud, speech recognition, notifications, and in-app purchases.

3. How We Use Information

We may use the information described above to:

  • provide, operate, maintain, and improve YapAlert;
  • create and manage your profile, voiceprint, meeting history, and coaching settings;
  • process audio to detect speaking behavior, estimate pace, generate speaking metrics, and support transcripts or AI features;
  • sync or restore your data through iCloud;
  • provide notifications, reminders, and in-app or background coaching alerts;
  • operate subscriptions, purchases, entitlements, renewals, and related support;
  • troubleshoot bugs, monitor performance, investigate abuse, and maintain security;
  • respond to support requests and communicate with you about the Service;
  • measure marketing performance and understand how users find and use YapAlert; and
  • comply with legal obligations, enforce our terms, and protect our rights, users, and the Service.

4. How We Share Information

We do not sell personal information for money. We may share information in the following circumstances:

4.1 Apple and platform providers

We may share information with Apple and other platform providers as needed to operate app functionality, including:

  • iCloud storage and sync;
  • speech recognition;
  • local and push notification infrastructure;
  • App Store purchases, subscriptions, and refunds; and
  • privacy-preserving attribution or platform measurement tools.

4.2 Service providers

We may use third-party service providers to help operate the Service, such as providers for:

  • analytics and product insights;
  • crash reporting, error monitoring, and diagnostics;
  • subscriptions and purchase management;
  • attribution, marketing measurement, and campaign analytics;
  • customer support tools; and
  • optional transcription, AI, or cloud processing features.

Examples may include providers such as Apple, PostHog, RevenueCat, AppsFlyer, Meta, Google, TikTok, OpenAI, and similar vendors we may use over time.

4.3 Optional AI, transcript, and cloud features

If you choose to use optional features such as transcripts, AI Practice Mode, or other cloud-powered functionality, we may send relevant audio, text, prompts, metadata, and outputs to third-party providers that support those features.

Where supported by the provider and our configuration, we intend to disable use of your content for training the provider's general models.

4.4 Legal, safety, and business transfers

We may disclose information:

  • to comply with law, regulation, court order, or lawful request;
  • to detect, prevent, or address fraud, abuse, security, or technical issues;
  • to enforce our agreements or protect our rights, property, users, or the public; or
  • in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, asset sale, or similar business transaction.

5. Storage and Retention

YapAlert is designed so that core app data is primarily stored:

  • locally on your device; and
  • in app-controlled storage within your iCloud account on supported Apple devices.

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including to provide the Service, support features you use, comply with law, resolve disputes, and protect the Service.

Retention may vary by data type:

  • profile data, coaching settings, meeting history, transcripts, and saved outputs may remain until you delete them or delete your app data;
  • voice enrollment samples and derived voiceprints may remain until you delete them or delete your app data;
  • temporary local processing files are intended to be short-lived and may be deleted automatically after a limited period or when no longer needed; and
  • service providers may retain logs, diagnostics, attribution records, transaction records, or temporary processing data for limited periods consistent with their services and legal obligations.

YapAlert currently creates certain temporary local audio files to support processing and sharing features. Some of those temporary files may be automatically cleaned up on a rolling basis, including roughly 24-hour cleanup for certain session recording temp files.

Deleting data from YapAlert is intended to remove it from active app-controlled local storage and app-controlled iCloud storage, but residual copies may remain for a limited time in system caches, backups, provider logs, or legally required records.

6. Your Choices and Rights

Depending on the feature and your jurisdiction, you may be able to:

  • review, edit, or delete profile information, voiceprints, meetings, transcripts, and similar data in the app;
  • use the in-app delete-all-data feature to remove app-controlled data;
  • manage microphone, speech recognition, notification, and other device permissions through your device settings;
  • manage App Store subscriptions, renewals, and cancellations through Apple;
  • choose whether to use optional transcript, AI, or cloud-powered features;
  • request access to, correction of, deletion of, or export of personal information, where applicable; and
  • withdraw consent where processing depends on consent, subject to legal limits.

To make a privacy request, contact us at support@yapalert.com.

If you are a resident of California or another U.S. state with privacy rights, or you are located in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, you may have additional rights under applicable law.

We do not sell personal information for money. Depending on the tools we use and applicable law, our use of analytics, attribution, and marketing partners may be considered "sharing," "targeted advertising," or a similar concept. Where required, we will provide any legally required notices or choices.

7. Children's Privacy

YapAlert is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to us, please contact us at support@yapalert.com so we can review and take appropriate action.

8. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information we process. However, no method of storage, transmission, or processing is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. International Transfers

Space Sweater is based in the United States. Some of our service providers may process information in the United States or other countries. By using the Service, you understand that information may be processed in countries with data protection laws that differ from those in your jurisdiction.

When required, we will use appropriate safeguards for international data transfers.

When we do, we will post the updated version and revise the "Last Updated" date above.
